That's right peoples... I am indeed the ZM appendix girl!
For those of you that don't know me personally and/or listen to ZM or even know why I am the appendix girl, I will duelly fill you in on this here little post of mine...
Every year ZM (A radio station in New Zealand) host the 'ZM single girls scavenger hunt'
Basically it involves teams of single girls dressing up in skimpy costumes, who are given a list of things to find around the town that they are in. The winning team wins $4000!
During the previous years, I have wanted to go, only I have either been too young, or I haven't been able to get a descent team together that will stick to wanting to go!
This year however, I was able to get a few mates together and go in as the 'Pink lady's'
(While we were there, we changed our name to 'The Pink Cow Girls' as there were at least a few teams there that were already the pink lady's.)
OK, so we were hunting for the items on the list some things which consisted of getting Paper booties (the ones that doctors and nurses wear in hospital) Grabbing a foodtown bag, hoola dancing in your undies and getting a photocopy of a 6 inch (you know what!)
Our team had split up to get a few items on the list and to meet up later. My Cousin and I had gone off in search of a Foodtown bag so we could take it back to Stables and Flynny (Two of the DJs for ZM) While we were waiting for our other team members, we sat down for a breather... (ok so during the whole of the day I had been experiencing pains in my stomach, but they went away as quickly as they had came - so I didn't pay much attention to them) All of a sudden the pain came back, but this time it stayed, a little uncomfortable at first, then it gradually got worse as the minutes went on. To tell you the truth - I felt like a complete woose! Sitting there like a baby clutching my side not wanting to move.
By this time my mates had caught on to me not feeling too good. Stables and Flynny also had asked a few times if I was alright. After a while the girls went off to do a few more scavenger hunting, while I stated with the DJ's. Flynny at one point brought me some panadol - and also offered that if I was cold, I could get dressed in his gorilla suit (Yes he was wearing one!) In the end Stables had to call an Ambulance for me. I spent the whole night in the hospital and in the end I ended up discharging myself (yes I know - Naughty girl - But I had my reasons!)
I guess you might like to hear my reasons? I have already had a lot of lectures from my friends and family...
1) I wanted to go to my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary lunch - That was something I wasn't going to miss!
2) This Friday I am Sitting my drivers test (once again) I sooooo don't want to reschedule that!
3) In a way I'm a little bit of a workaholic - I didn't want to miss work, didn't want to let them down and didn't want to miss anything (although I wouldn't really be missing terribly too much at the moment as I'm just writing in here)
4) I HATE hospitals! (I don't know what it is... I just get really freaked out when I am in them, I don't know how well I hide it but I really don't like hospitals)
5) I was scared (I know It is an issue that I am working on at the mo... Stop being so damned scared!)
6) I was STARVING! (because I wasn't feel too good on the Friday night, I hadn't eaten much on that day and I had skipped dinner - so by the time I discharged myself I hadn't had anything to eat for 24 hours!)
7) They seemed to be undecided on to whether or not they were going to operate, and I really just wanted to get out of there...
8) I thought that there were more people there that were sicker than me, I was up and walking around (well standing) even though I was still in a bit of pain I didn't want to stay in that damn hospital bed - It was hard as a rock!
9) I just wanted to go home and be comfortable.
If I start feeling the pains again, I will go back... But I want to get my license first!
Go ahead call me silly or stupid - whatever you like, I acted to the situation the best that I know how.
I also got my few minutes of fame out of it... Polly and Grant called me this Monday morning... If you heard it great (though I think I sounded too giggly and too much of an air head, damn embarrassing!) If not? Well I am back to being a nobody once again - except when someone might perchance mention the appendix girl :-S
P.S. Through out the night we looked everwhere for those paper booties... once I got to hospital I was surrounded by them!

No one likes hospitals.
I've nearly blacked out in them. And I was visiting someone! I think it's the smell.
